was developed as a subset of the Perseus Project which was created in the
Classics Department at Tufts University in honour of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. This site provides
access to information on Ancient and Modern Olympic Sports, gives details of athletes' stories;

ODYSSEUS is the WWW server of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and provides a range of
links to a vast number of ancient and modern Greek cultural sites. The page offers a search engine
that provides access to numerous Ancient Olympic (by using the search term "Olympic Games")
pages which provide details about the Archaeological Museum at Olympia; artefacts linked to the first games; issues related to the ancient games and information about the events.

provides information on the first Modern Olympic Games (Athens, 1896) and the revival of the
games, as well as photographs of the ancient sites. Details of the ideas behind the revival of the

site was produced by staff at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. It includes a question and answer section

Modern Developments The Olympics Through Time is presented by the Foundation of the Hellenic World, a cultural
centre located in Athens, Greece. The site is mirrored in Australia, and provides access to

was a project jointly sponsored by the Foundation of the Hellenic World and Dartmouth College (New Hampshire, USA). Undergraduates
from Dartmouth College developed a virtual museum, which allows visitors to view information and
photographs by clicking in the appropriate room. The floor plan includes a Museum Shop, a

A Broader Picture of Time An Olympic Games Primer
was produced by the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles. The Primer provides a wealth of information on the History of the games, the Olympic movement,

Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland have developed a wonderful website that has a lot of
textual and graphic information about the Olympic Movement. In addition to information about
Baron Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympics, you can access the catalogue of the
Olympic Museum Library and the Museum's Images & Sound Section. The website also hosts
several online virtual exhibitions, including stamps and coins associated with the Olympics (along

In Recent Times
Olympic Games Information, provides a collection of essays taken from Cantwell and Shepard's
Share the Olympic Dream Oct '97. Host cities, famous Olympians, medals and information on both
the Ancient and Modern Games are among the topics included on this site. It was established by

Local Chernogolovka Olympic Web Server provides information on the Atlanta Games. Day by
day medal winners, world and Olympic records on games and final results. Site focuses on Russian
medallists, but includes details on all winners. This site links to the Official Olympic Games Server at
