Governor Appoints Stuart Adams to Utah State Senate

SALT LAKE CITY – Governor Herbert this morning appointed Stuart Adams to serve as a State Senator in District 22, representing Central Davis County.

Mr. Adams was nominated Saturday by delegates from the Davis County Republican Party to fill the seat vacated by now-Lt. Governor Greg Bell. Utah Republican Party chairman Dave Hansen forwarded the nomination to the Governor on Monday.

Mr. Adams and his family joined Governor Herbert at the Utah Capitol as the Governor signed the formal appointment, which was then immediately delivered to the State Senate.

In his letter of appointment to Mr. Adams, the Governor said, “I am confident that as a State Senator you will serve our State and the citizens in your district with discernment and decorum.”

Mr. Adams is expected to take the oath of office in the Utah Senate this afternoon.
