Governor Herbert Pays Respects to Former State Senator Dan Eastman

SALT LAKE CITY – Governor Gary R. Herbert attended funeral services today for Dan Eastman to pay his respects to the two-term state senator.
“Senator Eastman was a dedicated family man, businessman and public servant who will be missed greatly,” Governor Herbert said. “His leadership in the Utah Senate on issues such as economic development, education and infrastructure lives on, as well as his legacy of compassion and concern for others.”
Senator Eastman passed away on June 8 from cardiac arrest. He served in the Utah State Senate from 2000 to 2008, and was elected as Senate Majority Whip in 2004 and again in 2006.
“Jeanette and I offer our deep condolences to Senator Eastman’s wife, Claudette, their children and grandchildren, and we thank them for sharing Dan with the State of Utah,” the Governor said.
He served as chairman of several legislative committees, including: Child Welfare Reform Oversight Panel; Business, Labor and Economic Development Standing Committee; Business and Labor Interim Committee; Transportation, Public Utilities and Technology Appropriations; and the Financial Institutions Task Force.
