Governor Herbert Appoints New Juvenile Court Judge

SALT LAKE CITY – Governor Gary R. Herbert has appointed Assistant Utah Attorney General Julie Lund as a juvenile court judge in the Third Judicial District.
Ms. Lund is the Chief of the Child Protection Division for the Utah Attorney General’s Office. She also serves as co-chair of the Children’s Justice Center Salt Lake Planning Committee and is a member of the Children’s Justice Center Advisory Board.
“Julie has built a reputation as a tireless and devoted advocate for Utah’s children,” Governor Herbert said. “In addition to her distinguished legal career, she has been actively involved in her community for more than 20 years.”
Ms. Lund earned her juris doctorate from the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law and a bachelor of arts from the University of Colorado.
She has been appointed to replace Third District Juvenile Court Judge Sharon P. McCully, who retired in September. The Third Judicial District serves Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele counties.
The Governor’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate.
