Governor Herbert Travels to the Middle East

Governor Gary R. Herbert began his trip to the Middle East with a briefing at the Pentagon with Secretary Leon Panetta and other military officials. He then boarded a military plane at Andrews AFB and was transported to Kuwait and then to Iraq.
For security reasons, the Governor’s Office cannot provide information regarding where he presently is or will be going, but we have received notification from the Dept. of Defense that he has been in the following areas on his trip to the Middle East this week:

Kuwait – Ali Al Salem Air Base, Camp Arifjan, Camp Buehring (Governor Herbert only).

Iraq –  Joint Air Base Balad, Taji Air Base, Camp Victory Baghdad, Baghdad International Airport (BIAP is a large military base).

Afghanistan –  Kabul (ISAF headquarters), Kandahar (Regional Command-South), and Bagram (Regional Command-East).

Governor Herbert is traveling with Governors Beshear (KY), Haslam (TN), and Sandoval (NV).  The trip is sponsored by the Department of Defense.
