Governor Orders Flags Lowered in Honor of Ambassador to Libya

Herbert authorized the lowering of the Flag of the United States of America and the Flag of the State of Utah until September 16, 2012, as a mark of respect for the memory of John Christopher Stevens, United States Ambassador to Libya, and American personnel killed in the attack on the American diplomatic facility in Benghazi.
The Governor issued the following statement:
“I am shocked and grieved to hear of the passing of Ambassador Stevens and the three other Americans at the United States consulate in Benghazi. Such senseless acts of violence must be condemned at every turn. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.”
The flags shall be lowered to half-staff on all state facilities effective immediately until sunset on September 16, 2012.
