Governor Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Former Attorney General

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the great State of Utah on all state facilities, Saturday, July 20, in honor of Vernon Bradford Romney. Romney served two terms as Utah’s Attorney General from 1969-1977. He passed away July 13, 2013, in Salt Lake City.

Governor Herbert issued the following statement:

Jeanette and I offer our heartfelt condolences on behalf of the State of Utah and all Utahns to the family of Vern Romney. Whether in the halls of state government as attorney general, or on the frontlines as an infantryman in WWII, his was a life of dedicated, principled public and community service.  May his loved ones find comfort and peace in the notable life he lived.
The flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities from sunrise to sunset on July 20, 2013.
