Governor’s Pre-Thanksgiving Events Governor to Serve Thanksgiving Meal and Pardon Turkey

WHAT: Governor Gary R. Herbert’s will serve Thanksgiving meal at the Salt Lake Rescue Mission with family members and staff, November 26, 2013. Volunteering at the Rescue Mission has become a tradition for the Governor and First Lady.

The following day, the Governor will be at Thanksgiving Point to pardon “Tommy Boy,” a 51-pound tom turkey. Tommy Boy will live at Thanksgiving Point bird refuge. Pardoning a turkey lets us give thanks to the many blessings we enjoy, particularly our agricultural industry (85,500 jobs, 14% of State economy, and rural heritage).
