This week, Gov. Herbert continued to push his Healthy Utah plan with members of the Obama Administration, meeting with Sec. of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.
“We were received very well. Conceptually, Sec. Sebelius and her staff were very willing to engage in talking about the Healthy Utah approach and granting maximum flexibility under ab block grant approach,” said Gov. Herbert. “As she said to me, ‘I see nothing in your proposal, governor, that would be a deal breaker.’”
Gov. Herbert met with the media upon his return to Utah. The full video of the news conference is posted above.
The governor also held separate meetings at the White House with senior members of the administration. They indicated the Medicaid expansion program was never designed to be a one-size-fits-all approach.
“I’m confident that over the next few weeks we can work out some of the nuances and the details and find an agreement to the Healthy Utah proposal.”
