Governor appoints Scott to the Third District Court

“I am confident Laura Scott will uphold the highest standard of the law as a judge of the Third District Court,” said Gov. Herbert. “She has proven character and capabilities, and I know she will serve the Third District well.”
Scott is currently a shareholder, member of the board of directors and vice president at Parsons Behle & Latimer. She has also served as an assistant general counsel to the University of Utah Office of General Counsel (1993-97).
“I consider it a great honor and privilege to be appointed by Gov. Herbert and I sincerely appreciate the confidence and trust he has shown in me,” said Scott. “I also recognize the immense responsibilities that accompany this appointment and I will work extremely hard to fulfill them.”
Scott received a 5.0 Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbel. She is a member of Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite (Business Litigation), a Utah Business magazine’s 30 Women to Watch (2012) and a Mountain States Super Lawyers, Top 100 Lawyers (2013) and Top 50 Women Lawyers (2013, 2014).
Subject to confirmation by the Utah State Senate, Scott will fill the vacancy that will result from the retirement of Judge John Paul Kennedy on Dec. 31, 2014.
