Exchanging gifts with Rio de Janeiro Governor Luiz Fernando DeSouza-Pezāo
At the invitation of the two leaders, Utah and Rio de Janeiro will enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on business, energy development, transportation, sports, and the Olympic Games.
Coincidentally, Rio dubs itself as “A State of Sport” while Utah dubs itself as the “The State of Sport.” These commonalities, among many others, will enable Utah and Rio to enjoy a long and prosperous relationship. Governor Luiz Fernando DeSouza-Pezāo will also travel to Utah in the future on a similar trade mission, led by Rio de Janeiro and hosted by Utah.
Meeting with leadership of the Rio Summer Olympic Games, which will be hosted by Brazil during the summer of 2016. Rio officials greatly appreciated Utah’s insights on how to host a successful Olympic Games.
