Gov. Gary Herbert visited Washington, D.C. this week for the 2015 National Governors Association (NGA) winter meetings.

He currently serves as Vice Chair of the NGA and will chair the bi-partisan organization beginning in July 2015.

As an NGA leader, the governor works with other governors to find ways to limit the influence of the federal government in states and share best practices for resolving challenges states face.

During the four-day meetings, the governor spoke about limiting the power of the federal government, cyber security and a host of other issues that impact states and the nation as a whole. Other topics discussed included education, homeland security, natural resources and health care.
