SALT LAKE CITY (March 17, 2022) — Click here to watch Gov. Cox’s monthly news conference hosted by PBS Utah.

ASL interpretation is provided.

Some highlights from this news conference include:

  • The Legislature passed 513 bills and as you know, we only have until March 31 to either sign, veto or allow bills to become law without a signature. We’ll be posting updates here.
  • Trust for America’s annual “Ready of Not” report places Utah in the top tier of states ready for public health emergencies. Much of this preparation was refined over the past two years and we’re so proud of Utah’s response to COVID-19 and the state’s continuing efforts to strengthen our public health infrastructure and address social determinants of health. You can find the full “Ready of Not” report here.
  • Late February and early March storms gave a slight boost to Utah’s snowpack, but is still below median for this time of year. The recent storms are helpful, but with 95% of Utah’s water supply coming from snowpack, we need above-average snowstorms to help refill our reservoirs.
  • Housing prices are up 20-30% in Salt Lake and Utah Counties. We need more supply. We’re grateful for the $70 million legislators allocated for affordable housing, but we’ve got to do more.
