Sara Weber serves as the digital communications manager to Utah Gov. Spencer Cox. Prior to her role in the governor’s office, Sara helped several newsrooms shape and execute digital growth strategies.
As The Salt Lake Tribune’s first-ever engagement manager, Sara oversaw the newsroom’s website, social media strategy, and various audience engagement projects — including a series of community listening sessions on the Salt Lake Valley’s west side. She used data and reader input to help engage and grow the paper’s audience, as well as empower the staff to report on meaningful and impactful stories.
Sara’s work has appeared in publications across the country. She’s received rewards for her reporting, podcast production, and social media strategies.
She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor’s of science degree in journalism and political science and earned a master’s degree in mass communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.
Sara moved to Utah in 2017. She enjoys hiking, road-tripping across the West, reading autobiographies, and binge-watching reality television.
