Utah COVID-19 Briefing: Jan. 28, 2021

Some highlights from this briefing include:

• We’ve administered 267,027 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
• We are able to transfer doses intended for our federal pharmacy partners to local providers. This will result in more than 28,000 doses that can be given to high risk people while CVS and Walgreens continue vaccinating our long-term care facilities.
• We have an increased allotment of Moderna doses coming to Utah. That means that our combined allotment for Moderna and Pfizer is now around 40,000 doses a week.
• President Biden announced the federal government will purchase 200 million doses (100 million each of Pfizer and Moderna). These are expected to arrive in the summer, just in time for the general public.
• Right now, the data shows that suicides and overdoses are not increasing. The number of suicide deaths in Utah is consistent with the last 3 years.  We must remember that the typical response to stress and crisis in our lives is resilience and recovery.
