Correspondence: Declarations and Letters
Request a Declaration Declarations are non-binding documents signed by the Governor of Utah in recognition of special events or significant issues. The Governor’s Office reserves the right to decline a request that does not have support from a Utah sponsor. Previously-issued declarations are not automatically issued each year. The Office of the Governor gives sufficient consideration to all requests, our protocol is put in place to protect the reputation of the office. The office requires six weeks notice for declaration requests. The director of correspondence/Office of the Governor reserves the right to edit proposed text and decline declaration requests. The approval or denial of a declaration request does not indicate or imply Gov. Cox’s endorsement or disapprobation of any given issue, organization, cause or initiative.
Request a Letter Here are some reasons you might request a letter from the Governor: to honor an Eagle Scout, celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary, etc.

By applying to a board or commission you will become part of a select group of Utahns who represent their community and peers as they help influence policies and programs that play an instrumental and invaluable role in guiding our state toward a successful future. You have a significant responsibility to promote the best interests of our state. By working together in unprecedented ways, we can make great strides in these areas that are crucial for Utah’s success.
It is our vision to be a state where residents are happy, safe, healthy and successful. Where we can grow old surrounded by the people we love and live peaceably in the most beautiful state in America. It is my hope that we realize the good that comes from doing things together as One Utah. Apply today at boards.utah.gov.
