Utah COVID-19 Briefing: May 27, 2021

SALT LAKE CITY (May 27, 2021) — Click here to watch this week’s COVID-19 briefing.

Some highlights from this briefing include:

  • We have now administered more than 2.5 million total doses of vaccines. Almost 57% of all eligible people in Utah have gotten at least one dose!
  • We’re happy to learn that Moderna says its vaccine appears to be effective in protecting adolescents and plans to submit for authorization to the Food and Drug Administration in early June.
  • In Utah, we are proud of the parents who are getting their adolescents vaccinated. Last week, we reported 9 percent of 12-15 year olds had received their first dose. As of yesterday, we now have 14.2% or more than 30,000 kids in this age group with their first dose!
