Solving and Serving

Respect and Dignity

All too often, people tear each other down rather than build up their communities, focus on personal agendas instead of finding solutions, and divide instead of unify.

Gov. Cox believes there is a better way to govern. Instead of treating politics as a blood sport, he looks for opportunities to listen, to learn from one another and to build coalitions that improve people’s lives.

As 2023-2024 chairman of the National Governors Association, his solution-based approach is at the center of his chairman’s initiative, “Disagree Better: Healthy Conflict for Better Policy.” This initiative focuses on re-learning the art of persuasion, attacking ideas instead of people, and keeping the focus on improving lives. He also modeled this behavior throughout his 2020 campaign for governor, where he recorded an ad with his Democratic opponent, visited all 248 cities and towns in Utah and participated in dozens of hands-on service projects.
