SALT LAKE CITY (July 15, 2021) — Click here to watch Gov. Spencer Cox’s monthly news conference hosted by PBS Utah.
ASL interpretation is provided.
Some highlights from this news conference include:
- More than 98% of Utah is in either extreme or exceptional drought, the two highest drought levels. Our reservoirs are 58% of normal, down from 59% last week.
- We’ve seen a significant reduction in wildfires for several weeks in a row now, thanks to so many of you celebrating safely.
- We are continuing to see an uptick, not only in coronavirus case counts, but in hospitalizations. Today we are going to report 693 new cases. So far this month, we have had 4 days with case counts of more than 600 cases. In March, we had five days with more than 600 cases.
- We’re keeping an open mind about solutions to traffic in the Cottonwood Canyons. We want people to get up the mountains safely and in an environmentally-friendly way.
- Utah is the fastest growing state in the nation, and we support well-reasoned and moderate improvements in our alcohol policy.
