Jacob Hart

Deputy General Counsel

Jacob began his legal career in private practice, spending five years as a commercial litigator. In 2015, he transitioned to state service as an analyst and investigator in the Department of Commerce, subsequently receiving an appointment as Deputy Commissioner. In this role, he spent eight years advising leadership on complex state-level challenges, managing agency operations, serving as legislative liaison, and building expertise in regulatory compliance, litigation strategy, GRAMA compliance, and emerging technology policy.

Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Brigham Young University, where he served as a Senior Editor of the BYU Law Review. Originally from a rural corner of Indianapolis, Indiana, he now lives in Salt Lake County with his wife and five children.
