SALT LAKE CITY (June 10, 2021) — Click here to watch this week’s COVID-19 briefing.

Some highlights from this briefing include:
- The fact that we live in a desert is more apparent this year as we begin to face one of the worst droughts in decades. It’s easy for people to tune out the “drought message” because it feels like we are always in some form of drought. In some years, however, drought is more severe and will require us to communicate more with you about it and the actions we can all take to mitigate its effects. This is one of those years.
- Our wildfire season is already in full swing, much earlier than normal. With dry conditions throughout the state, and record-challenging temperatures next week, we are imploring our fellow Utahns to be extra cautious when recreating outdoors and when towing vehicles. Please learn more about how to prevent fires at utahfireinfo.gov.
- Even though the pace of vaccinations has slowed to the point that we don’t need to order new doses from the federal government, we continue to make great progress.
