SALT LAKE CITY (Jan. 27, 2021) — Gov. Spencer J. Cox greeted members of the Utah National Guard returning to Utah from Washington, D.C. where they assisted with the 59th Presidential Inauguration. Service members from throughout the state returned from an 11-day deployment led by Lt. Col. Clayton Anderson, Task Force Utah commander.
Gov. Cox attended the homecoming of two returning flights at Ronald R. Wright National Guard Base on Wednesday night and joined Maj. Gen. Michael J. Turley to salute both Air and Army National Guard members.
“We’re so proud of our National Guard members in fulfilling this historic assignment with distinction and honor,” Gov. Cox said. “I invite all Utahns to join me in thanking Team Utah for representing our state honorably and for continuing to help our community as a critical part of our COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
