Governors to convene for National Governors Association Summer Meeting

SALT LAKE CITY (July 2, 2024) – The nation’s governors will meet in Salt Lake City for the National Governors Association (NGA) Summer Meeting July 11-12. Governors will join federal officials and leaders from business, academia and philanthropy for bipartisan conversations around top issues in states, commonwealths and territories.

Thursday, July 11: NGA Chair Utah Gov. Spencer Cox will lead an opening plenary session on his NGA Chair’s Initiative: Disagree Better. Conversations will feature special guests University of Florida President and Former U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse to discuss polarization on college campuses and Stanford University Polarization and Social Change Lab Director Robb Willer to present findings on the impact of the Disagree Better campaign. An additional session will feature a governor-led panel discussion on American competitiveness.

Friday, July 12: Governor-led sessions include a discussion with actor and author Matthew McConaughey on the role of culture in polarization, and the transition of NGA leadership and introduction of the 2024 – 2025 NGA Chair’s Initiative.

Following the governor-led sessions on Friday, governors will be available to take questions from credentialed members of the media.
