Some highlights from this briefing include:
- We’ve administered 785,523 doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
- The following groups will be eligible to make appointments for COVID-19 vaccines:
- Ages 50 and older
- Ages 16 and older with underlying medical conditions:
- Now including anyone with diabetes (Type I or Type II)
- Now including Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher
- Now including anyone with chronic kidney disease
- Johnson and Johnson vaccine arrived yesterday. We received 23,000 doses and the first vaccinations are expected to happen today. This is an important vaccine, not only because it prevents hospitalization and death, but because it gets the job done in one shot.
- Our new vaccine equity roadmap sets the direction for how to engage in practices that recognize the unique needs of historically underserved communities including racially, ethnically, and language diverse populations, as well as those who are experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, people who live in congregate settings, individuals who are homebound, people who lack access to transportation, rural and frontier communities, older adults and households without access to computers or the Internet, tribal members, and people who may have a hard time taking time off work to get vaccinated.
