Maj. Gen. Daniel Boyack
Maj. Gen. (UT) Boyack assumed command of The Utah National Guard on 21 August 2023. As commander, Maj. Gen. Boyack is responsible for the readiness and training of more than 7,000 Soldiers, Airmen, and civilian employees. The Utah National Guard has a federal mission to maintain properly trained and equipped units, available for prompt mobilization for war and other national emergencies. Additionally, the Utah National Guard provides the State of Utah with trained and disciplined forces for domestic emergencies to include: firefighting, flood, civil support, and physical-security operations. The Utah Army Guard has personnel and equipment in over 20 community armories throughout Utah, where Soldiers train for combat and state-support missions. The Airmen of the Utah Air Guard provide air refueling, communications, intelligence, air-battle management, and security support.
General Boyack began his career with the Utah Air National Guard in 1994. He was commissioned through the Air National Guard’s Academy of Military Science in 2000. He graduated in 2001 from Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training, where he was selected as the Distinguished Graduate and awarded the Commanders Trophy.
General Boyack is a veteran of several military operations including: ALLIED FORCE, JOINT GUARDIAN, NORTHERN WATCH, NOBLE EAGLE, JOINT FORGE, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and INHERENT RESOLVE. Prior to his current position, he served as the Assistant Adjutant General of the Utah Air National Guard.
